Prepare for Dragons with Inquisition!

Where do I start with a review of Dragon Age Inquisition? Without question, it is one of the best games I have ever played. The graphics, story, characters, world and customization in this game is insane. It was challenging, exciting, original, thought provoking and funny. How can you say no to a game like that?

As always, Bioware has created a world that is interwoven with the previous games, but it is not a necessity to play them. That being said, playing the other games before hand allows for the creation of a universe unique to the player, based on choices made in previous games.

I played each of the previous Dragon Age games and was not sure what to expect with the next one in the series. With these games, they have a distinct knack for not even being close to what a player expects. The following image pretty much sums up the games for those who have played them all:

Bioware keeps to a certain format with its Dragon Age games, which allows players to be one of three types of classes (mage, rogue or warrior), as well as a particular race from the Dragon Age universe. As well, you still have the wonderful range of sidekicks, great weapons and a big world to explore, but Bioware has gone beyond this in their new game.

Not only is this the biggest world that Bioware has created, it is impeccable in detail. Each region is a unique place unto itself, and full of mystery. Each of these locations contains puzzles, quests, crafting items and enemies (this is just a few sample locations).

This is just a glimmer of what is waiting for you in Dragon Age Inquisition. You also get to seek items to craft and create armour and weapons for your team, as well as for yourself. Each combination creates unique outfits and attributes to enhance your skills or protect you from various dangers that lurk all around the world. You must seek out the required items for crafting, and try to figure out how to create the best (or funniest) items. This game is action packed, as well as having various romance options (as is the Bioware way), team mates to collect and assist with their own problems and puzzles to keep you busy.

If that was not enough to get you motivated to play, then I should also mention the 10 hidden dragons all around the world. Each of these dragons has special abilities and different attack styles. Once you locate these dragons, you must figure out what abilities they have and who on your team is the most capable to help you overcome these beasts. Once beaten, they offer an array of rewards (both weapons/armour, as well as the best items for crafting).

Amidst all of this, you still have the general story of the game, which I must say, was complicated and beautiful. You are the Inquisitor. You have survived something that is unexplainable, with a mark that is both powerful and deadly.  The world is being torn apart and you alone hold the key to why this is happening. But you cannot do this by yourself, and so you must assemble a group of unique individuals with uncommon skills to help you in your quest. Where you go, what you do and what choices you make are entirely in your hands. Will you wield the power that has been placed in your hands, join together with the members of your inquisition and defeat a powerful enemy?

Now is the time to see if you have what it takes to save the world of Thedas. Get your armour and your weapons ready boys and girls, you are in for a remarkable ride.

Mass Effect Andromeda

If you are a gamer like me, then you are eagerly awaiting the release of Bioware's next big game: Mass Effect Andromeda.

If you are not familiar with this game or company, then let me enlighten you. Bioware is a company that has created some of the most epic and engrossing games that are filled with characters that you will learn to love and loathe, worlds that you will want to live in if it were ever possible (despite the dangers taking place) and stories that keep you coming back for more.

Bioware spent a large amount of time developing and writing the Mass Effect series, and they are close to perfect games. IGN's lowest rating for the games (3 in total so far), is 9.0, which should tell you how great they are. These games are all about customization and choices, allowing the players to decide the personality, looks, class and general direction of the games. Each of your choices has an impact on the games, which are interconnected from one to three.

Within each game, you play a character named Commander Shepard. He/She (depending on your choice) is the last hope for humanity, and for the galaxy as a whole. Forces are rising that no one in the future ever expected, nor are they equipped to deal with. Despite alliances with various alien races, advanced technology and wondrous weapons/abilities, you are the thing standing between destruction and redemption of the entire known universe. Use your skills and your team to do the impossible, and save us all.

The last game, Mass Effect 3, was launched in 2012, and since that time fans have been patiently waiting for the next one to arrive. Finally, at E3 2015, the first trailer for the next Mass Effect was released and fans have been salivating at the footage that was given.

Writers have stated that the lead character will be human and that there will be new worlds and new characters to explore, and they are hoping it will be released sometime in 2016.

If the game is anything like the others, then it will be worth the long wait.

Until then, I suggest you pick up a copy if you haven't played and be prepared to join the Mass Effect family.
